A long time coming

Well it has been way to long but I thought we would post an update before the new little girl arrives. It has been a busy few months for us! Here is what we have been up to.

In April we bought a house!!! The family we have been renting from decided to sell the house we have been in for the last year and a half and they wanted to sell to us. It has been such a blessing since we had been looking into houses for a while and putting offers in on so many without any going through. We LOVE our house and really did not want to move but felt it was a good time for us to get into the house market since we can actually afford one after this big crash. So best of both worlds for us!

Here is a picture of our "new" place

As we were going through the buying process we learned that the floors of both bathrooms had water damage due to things that had been leaking. Instead of simply repairing we decided to do a remodel and make a master bathroom (before there were two bathrooms one with a shower and one with a bath but no true master). Thanks to Luke's dad we got things designed and many friends and family helped tear apart our house and put it back together. So now both bathrooms have been redone, we now have a front bath and shower and a master bath and shower. The laundry room was moved to the garage where they converted the "shop" to a finished laundry room. They also replaced most of the piping under the floors and fixed issues in the electrical system along with MANY other things.

Here is what it looked like before...

Luke finished up his school year and went off to Fiji with some students from Immanuel for a mission trip for 2 weeks with Students International. The mission trip went really well for Luke, he enjoyed serving at the two places in Fiji, especially because everyone there spoke English so they really felt like they were able to minister to the people personally. He spent 1 week in Momi bay helping to develop and maintain the community outreach center. Their second week was in Suva at Homes of Hope where SI ministers to very young single moms. Luke was very much impacted by the work as well as his interactions with his students. If you want to know more e-mail him! Here is some info on the Student's International Website - http://www.stint.com/countries.html

Ellyann and I spent a week visiting Peter and Sandy while Luke was gone which was a BLAST! I just love those two. We spent most of the week relaxing and just spending time together. It was a much needed rest. Peter and Sandy helped a ton with Ellyann which made Luke being gone much easier, thanks you two!

Here are some picts of our time with them

She just loved Uncle Peter

And Sandy too!

Heading to the outdoor campus where we saw lots of birds

On the plane

Ellyann has been growing and changing a ton lately. She is finally getting some hair on that head of hers and she is talking a ton now. Her couple of words has exploded into so many I can't keep track anymore. She is experimenting with new words every day and that little personality of hers is definitely showing through. She has been such a joy to watch grow and Luke and I are so enjoying getting to know her more as she begins to express her likes, dislikes and desires. She is a silly one for sure but I think that fits us...here are some picts of her over the last couple of months.

Saying cheese for the camera

Ellyann's cousin Leah is her new favorite person, I am thinking she will be Leah's shadow for many years to come.

In her new big girl bed, she loves it!

We have lots of time in the water now that it is hot outside, this was her first experience with sprinklers, I think she liked it!

Ellyann, McKay and Joshua playing at Grandma Karen's water table.

"Helping" sort through things for the new baby, well spreading them all over the floor is kind of like helping.
She is very into shoes lately, her own, mom's and dads!

Helping move the crib to her sister's room.

Happy 4th of July!

Helping some more...

Ellyann got lots of Grandma and Grandpa time last weekend when they came to visit.

Last but certainly not least we are now less than 4 weeks from baby girl #2's due date. We are getting very excited to meet this little one! The pregnancy has gone very well so far. Please be praying as we prepare to meet this little girl very soon!

We had a surprise baby shower when the fam went to Roger Rockas, thanks guys!

That little girl is getting big! And her little cousin is due early November! Melanie and I had an almost identical picture about 18 months ago!

We will keep you posted!

Hi there. I am a friend of Emily and Matthew Brooks through Multnomah. I came across your blog and love the color you painted your laundry room. I've been wanting to paint our laundry room a blue but haven't found a blue I like. What is the color and brand that you used? Thank you! =)
